The Board of Directors of the Asociación Industrial Textil del Proceso Algodonero (AITPA), appointed Josep Sauleda Bou, of the Sauleda Group, to preside over the Association for a period of two years from the beginning of 2021.
Josep Sauleda's objective is to help the sector and contribute his experience to support competition between the different companies that operate within the field. In addition, it aims to promote the fact that Spain's textile industry production has high potential and added value that continues to be manufactured and continues to exist. All this in view of future growth and the creation of quality jobs.
Josep Sauleda succeeds Javier Morillo Pilón, who has been at the head of the Association for the last four years. Juan A. Parés Boj, of Grupo Textil Santaderina, will accompany him in this new stage as vice-president.
The new president has developed his professional career in the textile sector as administrator of the group of Sauleda group of companies (Sauleda, S.A., Balvitex, S.A., Tuva Textil, S.L. and Niene, S.L.), whose parent company was founded in 1897. He has a degree in Business Sciences from the Universitat of Barcelona and has studied Fiber Innovation and Textile Theory at Dormagen and at the Goethe Institut – Staufen im Breisgau (Germany).
Sauleda is a creative and innovative manufacturer of technical fabrics for solar protection, in the nautical, outdoor upholstery and industry. Since Sauleda was born, it has had one goal: to produce high quality fabrics and design to protect people. More than a century later, it continues faithful to this vision and also develops products known for their innovation in terms of sustainability and environment. In this sense, “Green” stands out as the first fabric that purifies the air in the world, eliminates pollutants and, thanks to its self-cleaning effect, saves chemicals and energy.
As for AITPA, it is the organization that represents cotton textile companies in Spain. It is a sector made up of a hundred companies with 5,300 workers and whose turnover exceeds 2,000 million euros, more than 53% abroad.
